A Four Part Approach

In 2013 leading family and civil law experts wrote The Access to Civil and Family Justice Report which emphasized the importance of people having information about their rights, getting connected with community and professional resources, having their issues triaged, and being able to resolve those issues in a way that suits their family circumstances.  For many people, much of this, they noted, could be done before and outside court.

We see this as a 4 part approach to resolving your separation or divorce issues:

  1. Inform Yourself

    • Better understand your rights and responsibilities, the decisions you need to make, and the information and documents you need to collect.

  2. What Matters Most

    • Identify the issues that matter most to you so you can focus your time, emotional energy and money on them.  Sometimes, we feel strongly about an issue, but the law may make our preferred outcome unlikely to happen.  This is important to know too.

  3. Connect

    • With the professionals and community resources that fit your needs and budget

  4. Resolve/Decide the Issues

    • In a way that suits you, your family and your circumstances.

25 Clicks is a place to start.  It lets you Inform Yourself, and helps you start to think about the issues in a way that will be more helpful to you and your family’s situation.  The Plan What’s Next Guide at the end helps you with your next steps.  It also includes some places and organizations that can help you.

Still Developing:  We are working with many others on Connect – an easier way you can find the professionals and community resources that might help you.  We are also developing a Triage piece that will help you focus your time, energy and resources on what matters most to you.
